Our name
Mater Spei
Mother of Hope
Mater Spei is Latin for “Mother of Hope”. We chose it because hope is at the centre of good care: not as a feeling, but as something practical that people can rely on.
Hope looks like a familiar face at the door at the time you expected. It looks like being asked, rather than told. It looks like a plan that makes room for the things you still want to do, and support that helps you do them.
Our service is for everyone, whatever their background, beliefs or circumstances.
Our purpose
To provide support that protects dignity, encourages independence and gives people confidence in everyday life.
What we believe
Care is a relationship before it is a service.
The quality of someone’s support depends on the people who provide it: how well they know the person, how much time they are given, how well they are trained and how they are treated themselves.
So we invest in those things. We keep teams small and consistent. We give staff the learning and supervision to do the job well. And we measure ourselves by what the people we support and their families tell us, as well as by what regulators expect.

Mater Spei Care and Support is operated by Custoris Health Ltd, the healthcare and care company within the Custoris group. Mater Spei is the name under which Custoris Health delivers care, and the name the people we support know us by.
